5 Top Tips for Creating a Great Fundraising Poster

Designing a poster for your fundraising campaign can be a tricky job

Follow these simple tips for creating a great poster that's sure to help you get your message across.

  1. Define your objective

What are you trying to do with this poster, are you raising awareness for your cause, informing people about a fun-run with sign-up details or are you raising funds? Be clear in your objective and don't try to do too many things in the one place.

2. Make it readable from a distance

Imagine a bus passes you by with your poster on the side of it, can you read what it says? Do you know what you are supposed to do with the provided information? Make sure that people don't have to study the content of your poster to know what you what them to do.

3. Consider the context

Where will your promotional material be placed? Will it be a cluttered Facebook feed, the side of a bus, a newspaper. Consider what will surround it, colour, contrast and size.

4. Create Contrast

Think about what people are doing when they see your poster, are their phones handy, will they remember your keyword? Create visual contrast within your poster. Make your keyword, pricepoint and shortcode stand out from the rest of your content if your objective is to fundraise from a text-to-donate keyword.

5. Keep it simple

Use one large image that communicates well with your audience. Give it space to resonate and use 1/3 of the poster for your call to action. Keep it simple and clutter free.

  • What message do you want to convey?

  • What do you want people to do?

  • How do you want them to do it?
