How You Can Help The Refugee Crisis

The LIKECHARITY offices have had a flood of texts and calls over the last week, from generous folks asking how they can help the Refugee Crisis.

Below are four charities using the LIKECHARITY Collect platform to fundraise for the current Refugee Crisis:

Oxfam Ireland:

Text OXFAM to 50300 donate €4

"The men, women and children who have fled conflict in Syria and beyond are in desperate need of shelter, food, water and medical care. Oxfam is there.

We are already at work in Italy, providing life-saving support to those who have been saved from the waters of the Mediterranean. And we’re continuing our work in Syria and surrounding areas, where 7.6 million people are displaced and over 4 million have fled to neighbouring countries."

"Syria is one of the most dangerous places in the world to be a child.

By the end of 2015, the lives of over 8.6 million children across the region will have been torn apart by violence and forced displacement.

UNICEF is renewing its commitment to the survival and protection of children, including those living under the harshest conditions of siege. At the same time, we are redoubling our efforts on behalf of poor communities in neighbouring countries where refugees have settled, so that they can continue to share their vital services and schools with refugee children and their families living in their midst."

The Irish Refugee Council:

Text PROTECTION to 50300 donate €2

"The IRC is liaising through the Hungarian Helsinki Committee to raise much needed funds to provide humanitarian supplies to address the needs of refugees in Budapest, Hungary. This will be by means of funds taken to Budapest before the end of September which will be spent on necessary humanitarian supplies in coordination with volunteer groups on the ground. Financial donations enable us to respond rapidly to address where the needs are greatest.  The situation is changing rapidly on the ground but it is a vital crossing point in to the EU after long and sometimes treacherous journeys."
